Hi all.
Sorry if this has been discussed can't seem to find it.  I want to just back up as much as possible my data on the HTC Imagio.  I've already had one go bad on me with the entire screen no longer working.  It was impossible to get anything off of it.  Cry  Ouch!
So I tried now with active sync.   I installed that and now it appears it will only work with MS Office.  Do I really need to buy MS office to JUST back up most of my data ?
Jezz Why can't I back this up to my memory card Huh
I want to back up at least contacts and calendar...  honestly I don't think I should have to shell out any more green to do so.
Please anyone know of a low to no cost solution please advise.
Thanks!

You can use Microsoft My Phone. Its free and will save all your contacts, ringtones, text messages, email and more. It will also sync once a day to back up any changes. If your phone fails again just download the program again and then sync and everything comes back. Just goto marketplace on your phone to download for free.

Thanks I've found this app about an hour after I appended.   There is just one question in my mind: If you get a brand new phone and you do a sync will this app assume that the phone contacts and data were just deleted and cause the sync to delete it from the myphone profile?  Grin   You would like to tihnk it would know it a new phone and just sync by downloading ... but not sure.

Thanks again for the pointer.

Some how it knows its a new phone. I've had to hard reset my phone and then downloaded the app again and synced my phone all came back with no problems.

Good to know. big thanks

I just wonder if it would be  possible to write an app that could save and restore all the same info to the memory card?  Any developer know ?

There already is a application for this.... SPB Backup allows a complete backup of unit and as long a phone your using the same rom you restore a replaced unit to the exact state as the last backup.  I have used it for years and have had phones replaced and I just did custom backup of unit including whatever folders I have on SD card (Since most 3rd party apps are stored there) before I handed over old unit and then restored new unit from image in a few minutes and it was exactly as old was before I replaced it.

Check it out...

Change is good and customizing is better, but always remember that backing up should still be the first golden rule...
