What got updated ?

I seen this odd icon on the top of my screen and when I looked in the notifications it told me that I should connect my HTC to my windows USB to get updates.   Ok so I connected it up with file access and attempted with active sync but didn't have M$ Open Office so hit a dead end with that.

So did anything get updated ?  I assume behind the covers they get new updates from your pc ... via internet? How?  Is there anything that will show me if something did get updated?
