A beta version of Opera 10 is available promising all kinds of new awesomeness. Get it here: http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/

It's got single-tap zoom, and it does seem quite a bit faster to load pages than 9.5. So far I like it.

I gotta say, I like this browser. They definitely paid attention to Skyfire's speed advantage. Also, it reformats text nicely to make text more readable. This looks to be a huge upgrade over what was available before.

No, but it does make itself the default browser without asking. Good thing I like it, or I'd be pretty annoyed.

The images look poor because they are compressed by Opera's server before sending them to your phone. Skyfire does the same thing. If you enable "Opera Turbo", pages load much faster but the images look really bad. I'm not sure if turbo is not enabled whether the images are still compressed or just less compressed.
Another thing I would like to add: I have found that if you install Opera to you SD card, it takes a lot longer to start up. However, that could be because I have a cheap SD card.

When I tried the Opera 10 BETA, the zoom bar was not usable. Strange as HTC seems to be the only company launching with Opera as it's default browser. You would think they would make sure to keep the functionality.
